Holidays and teaching – a perk or a necessity?
As we approach the end of what feels like quite a long term, I wonder how much general appreciation there is for teachers and their need for a break. Presumably, those who work hard but have an annual leave entitlement of some 4 or 5 weeks must look on with envy at the teachers 13 weeks of ‘non-contact’. From my own point of view, the last few weeks have seen more evening commitments than I care to remember – year 5 secondary transfer evening, school journey evening, open evening, Governing Body meetings (full and sub-committees) kids’ discos. I feel pretty shattered it has to be said, and seriously in need of a battery re-charge!
